Wheatsheaf cottage was originally the miller's cottage and barn on The Bwlch Tre Banau Estate. Vaulted oak beamed ceilings, thick welsh slate window sills and double french doors leading out onto a brick paved terrace overlooking the view down to the valley make this a stunningly beautiful holiday property.
The cottage is centuries old and most of the really unusual features have been retained, including some arrow slit windows, a huge liftingwheel and a beautiful original exterior stone staircase. The "Great Room" features a woodburner with a plentiful supply of logs, highvaulted ceiling and original stone floors. The conservatory sun-room is a great place to relax in. It does contain a day bed and therefore will accommodate a 5th person.

The living area of Wheatsheaf Cottage has arrow slit windows, stable doors and huge glass French windows in the great room that open out onto a private terrace. This impressively large great room has a high vaulted ceiling with green oak A-frames, natural finish oak panelling from the estate and incorporates some really beautiful ancient curved long oak beams. It also features a unique antique wooden lifting wheel that was still actively in use until a few years ago.
Relax on one of the two huge and comfortable 8-way hand tied sofas with tapestry fabric and loads of throw cushions. These superb quality soft furnishings are complimented by some handsome pieces of furniture including a magnificent 8 feet tall mahogany grandfather clock. A remarkable collection of paintings features countryside wildlife including badgers and otters painted on large thick slabs of Welsh slate that were rescued long ago from an old manor house. Reclaimed rustic flag-stone flooring with an under floor heating system keeps this room warm & cozy during the cooler months and a large Jotul woodburner provides a roaring open fire to curl up beside. Open the oak shutters beside the fireplace and find a 36” TV & DVD. Guests have also been provided with a stereo/CD player. On long lazy Summer days and balmy country evenings, leave the huge outward opening French windows open to enjoy gentle breezes and stroll out onto the expansive brick paved terrace to enjoy lunch, supper or a quiet drink overlooking one of the most spectacular views in the whole of Carmarthenshire.
